Mobile GPS Tracking Service

September 5th, 2008 by odonata

Enjoy the new look and new features of GPSed for PocketPC and Smartphone!

We are happy to announce a new GPSed update for Windows Mobile-based devices! You can easily compare its interface with the previous version and we hope you’ll find the recent one more attractive.

We’re sorry to keep the WM audience waiting for a bit more time than BlackBerry and J2ME users. But still, the new look&feel is here and we like it very much. And yes, it’s the most important part of this update.

Another nice feature we have here is “track autopause“. Now the track pauses automatically if you decide to stop for a while. Every time you take a break, you don’t need to stop the track by yourself. Moreover, your WM-based device can be now prevented to enter the sleep mode, if you want to keep it on all the time. All this features customizable via application Settings.

This update also includes several dozens bug fixes which we believe will make your GPSed experience trouble-free and more enjoyable. We highly recommend you to download the latest version. And keep us informed on your experience!

Yours,
GPSed Team

Hi, i already download the update and installed. but its still the old version 2.0.1

pls have a check. thanks

Jay Says:

I can’t find the 2.1.3 version. When I click the link to download the software for my wm6 phone there is only the beta-version available.

snaky Says:

Where I can download this version? There is only 2.0.1 beta on download page.

steve Says:

wap.gpsed.com still contain 2.09 where can we get this new version?

Dan___ Says:

The download link is the 2.0.1 version.

Kev Says:

Hi, I tried installing update 2.1.3 over the 2.0.1 version today. It said it would install the old one and install this but it looked exactly the same. I had to clear all the warnings at the start and input my login details again so it looks like it has uninstalled but installed the same one. In the about it still reports 2.0.1. I have also tried uninstalling through add/remove and reinstalling but it seems to just install 2.0.1 again.

Kev Says:

Edit: “It said it would install the old one and install this” should read It said it would uninstall the old one and install this”

Kev Says:

I have looked at the files in the CAB file and they are exactly the same date (28/07/2008 19:00) as the 2.0.1 beta. Looks like the download link has not been updated for Windows Mobile Pocket PC.

Pete Says:

Hi
I have just downloaded the new version and the download link is pointing to version 2.0.1 not 2.1.3

Valery Says:

Confirmed - a new version of GPSed for Windows Mobile wasn’t available for download, until now. It was our fault, I’m sorry for such unpleasant mistake.

Now you can download GPSed for Windows Mobile v. 2.1.3 usual way, or you can follow this direct links:
PocketPC version
Smartphone version

zeugma Says:

OK, it works (fine on my Diamond!!)

Thanks for all the dvpt team

Michel

Kev Says:

Great, looks much better. I also have diamond and worked OK on 1 track, another track seems to have failed to track for most of the journey until I received a call and then it lost the GPS at the end of call. I know the GPS was working during this journey because I kept an eye on the speed etc.

Chuck Musciano Says:

I installed this on a Blackjack II with WM 6.1, but it cannot find the internal GPS. How can I make the app use the internal GPS? The settings don’t even allow me to choose a COM port… should the app be using the Windows Intermediate GPS driver instead?

Valery Says:

Chuck Musciano »
Please make sure you have installed latest version 2.1.3

Chuck Musciano Says:

I have confirmed that I am running 2.1.3, and it does not try to use the internal GPS. Any suggestions?

Pete Says:

I am using GPSed 2.1.3 on a HTC Diamond. I find that it works great. The only problem i have is that even though i have ticked the box to “prevent automatic power down” it still powers down. I currently have to disable the power down in the power options.

Pete

Valery Says:

We have just released a small update: GPSed for Windows Mobile v. 2.1.4

In this updated problem with “automatic power down” was fixed. You can find instructions how to configure Internal GPS in blog post above.

Kev Says:

My problem is the same as Pete’s. Also HTC Touch Diamond. Not sure what happened in the car but it definately doesn’t keep it alive when on battery and I have to change PM settings (when I’m in car I have the power in and the phone doesn’t go to sleep due to my PM settings).

vector Says:

if you run another app that also uses the gps like google maps the device wont power down, just set both apps to use the same gps port and they’ll share the data, this also works good with wififofum but wifi fo fum uses alot of resources so google maps should o the trick nicely.
