Mobile GPS Tracking Service

In our previous post we promised to describe a new geo-searching function on GPSed map toolbar. This feature is hot and deserves our special attention! The search bar is located directly below the toolbar.

The result or your request is displayed on a map with the detailed information including country and localityflag of the country and geographical coordinates. Concerning coordinates a new option was included in Settings. Now you can change decimal format of coordinates which is standard for Google Maps into DMS format (degrees, minutes and seconds).

Using geo-search you can search everything you like: any countries, states or provinces, cities, towns, addresses and even streets with the exact house numbers. Besides geo-referenced search you can find places of interest in all parts of the world! Type the most famous places of interest in a search bar of the toolbar (White House, Eiffel Tower or Statue of Liberty) to see how it works.

Put your mouse on the search bar and wait for a while. A tooltip with explanations and examples of correct search requests will appear. Use this information to make a correct search of localities you’d like to see on the map.

Make double click on the search bar to remove previous request (or in other words to remove a marker from the map). Try it and you’ll see how it easy, fast and useful.

The Google Geo Search algorithm which we use could provide a list of different localities all over the world with the same titles. Now you will see only one locality from this list on GPSed. In future we are planning to show all results for you to choose the correct one.

When the searching of the object is finished the map in centralized on it with a suitable zoom level.

This is important to know that there is no strict format of search requests. Google Geo Search could “understand” the variety of requests on different languages and in different formats: with or without punctuation marks, in small or capital letters, etc. Anyway Google Geo Search database is not absolutely full. Sometimes you can find places of interest or different sights in original language. English names of the localities are always available. If you unable to find some localities try to rephrase the request or include additional information (for example: Nice, California).

Improve your knowledge of different sights with geo-searching feature, learn more about places where your tracks originated. As usual, we are waiting for your comments impatiently. We are absolutely sure that the new toolbar with new layers and geo-searching feature will bring you much pleasure.

Leave your comments here and stay with us!

Sincerely yours,
GPSed Team
