Mobile GPS Tracking Service

Here we are going to discuss some small changes in GPSed Mobile Application for J2ME phones.  Upgrade to a new version of GPSed (3.6) and you will get an application which was improved. Recently we notices a small bug which is already fixed by our developers in the recent version. The bug appeared when users converted their tracks in GPX format. After that the track points were reflected in 12-h format (ex. the time was 10.32 instead of 22.32). This caused some strange tracking results (ex. the track started at 11.04 AM and finished at 03.55 AM, the same day).

We hope this was useful for those of you who have GPSed installed on J2ME phones.

Yours sincerely,
GPSed Team

GPSed.com proudly presents new GPSed track in Historic series and the first GPS presentation of “Sully´s flight” (US Airways Flight 1549) and heroic landing in the Hudson River.

We have restored on a map the heroic landing of Airbus A320 in the Hudson River that took place January 15, 2009. This event came to the history of civil aviation thanks to the captain of Flight 1549 Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger. Without thrust from both engines lamed by geese he softly landed plane on water and saved lives of 155 passengers.

Together with the track you will find  geotagged photos, waypoints during this short flight and embedded 3D animation video with real pilot’s speech during in-flight accident.

Stay tuned for new GPSed tracks from our Historic series. You can even subscribe to RSS Feed for all new tracks from this series.

Some our users continue experiencing problems while opening pages of GPSed.com web site that contains Google Maps inside. Error message “Operation aborted” appears while loading these pages under Internet Explorer browser. We have investigated this issue and realized that error appears only for some modifications of Internet Explorer version 7 and version 6, while other versions of this web browser work well.

Error message appears because of a bug in Internet Explorer itself.  This bug is explained in Microsoft Knowledge Base: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927917

Here is a quote from the link above:

How do I fix this problem?

The easiest way for you to fix the problem is to upgrade to Internet Explorer 8. This problem no longer occurs in Internet Explorer 8. To upgrade to Internet Explorer 8, visit the following Microsoft Web site:Windows Internet Explorer 8: Home page
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/beta/default.aspx

For better performance and stable working of GPSed.com web service we recommend to use Mozilla Firefox 3, which can be downloaded from our Downloads page. By the way, Downloads page has been redesigned recently. It’s another reason to check it out.

In one of our previous posts we informed our users that GPSed Mobile Application appeared in App Store.

The application was very awaited by those users who were already familiar with GPSed on BlackBerry, Windows Mobile or Java phones. Now GPSed also became popular among iPhone users, those who have never tried it before.

In a new version (1.1) which is recently available in App Store we tried to take into account all suggestions and comments by our users.

What’s new in the current version of GPSed for iPhone?

    Imperial units support.

Waypoints can be added now in offline mode, and then synchronized back to server.

Long tracks are no more being lost on exit.

    Tracking restarts after phone calls.

Added button and browser for GPSed.com navigation.

Some fixes for proper track point saving.

New updates of GPSed for iPhone are also expected. We hope GPSed will bring you much pleasure. Wish you unforgettable trips and exciting adventures!

Kind regards,
GPSed Team
