In autumn many of our users came back from their trips and started to upload many nice tracks. We love all of the tracks and we are always waiting for the new tracks impatiently! We decided to make it even more friendly and handy for our users.

The main menu of GPSed website is now standardized for all pages, including “track”, “map”, “whereis” and all other pages. Sign in your account at GPSed and here you will also find a new navigation. Now you are able to visit each page of GPSed site being signed in under your account. What’s the difference? Before this update you were able to see only “track”, “map” and “whereis” pages under your account. You always signed out to visit the main page with a statistics, news and featured tracks. We decided this is not so comformable for our users and finally we changed this navigation. Now you can get everywhere on GPSed website under your account.

Also, you can always be informed on the recent posts in GPSed Blog! The five recent posts are resembled in the headers of each GPSed page. The most important of them are marked in bold. On the main page in the list of recent posts we have added the comments counter. Now you can be informed on the popularity of each post.

This was done specially for you to enjoy GPSed. Visit GPSed website, upload your tracks, watch tracks by other users all over the world and enjoy new navigation!

Recently you’ve heard here about GPSed version 3.2 for Java phones. And we did not force you to wait long for a new version - please find here a new release of GPSed for Java Phones ver. 3.3

What’s new is this release?

  • Now our users with Java phones can view the track list being not connected to GPS device.
  • In the newest update in Settings menu the item Autopause was added with the following values: 1 km/h, 2 km/h, 3 km/h, 5 km/h, 10 km/h . “Km/h” could be easily changed in Measurement Unit on km/h, kts or mph. The option is disabled by the default.
If the movement speed is less than in Settings -> Autopause the track will be temporary paused. User doesn’t need to press Pause Tracking, this will be done automatically. The track will be automatically resumed when the required speed values are obtained. This speed values should be higher than in Settings -> Autopause.
  • And also, we are using a new formula to measure track distance which makes your results more accurate.
  • Finally, track sharing in Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, etc became a little bit easier.

We hope the new version will bring you much pleasure! Download the new version and share your thoughts with us!

Kind regards,
GPSed Team

This is not a secret for our users that you can explore maps not only with GPSed tracks and photos, but with photos from Panoramio. But now Panoramio photos look much better on GPSed with small thumbnail images.

We hope this small feature will make your time spending with GPSed.com more pleasant!
Feel free to leave you comments here!

Sincerely yours,
GPSed Team

And again we have nice news for WM audience! New update of GPSed for Windows Mobile v. 2.1.4 is small but useful. In this update we included several bug fixes. Now we really hope you won’t have any more troubles with Internet connection, ocasional stop of the track when uploading it on the server, sharing the tracks to the Social Networks (Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, etc) and preventing automatic power down. The latest version is available for free download.

Thank you all for so many comments and questions we’ve got last week. As usual, we are happy to help and here we are with one of the answers.

Today we’ll discuss the most frequently asked questions on the COM-ports and internal GPS settings. On the page “View ->Track Details” you can get data on the current connection. The field “GPS Receiver” has the following meanings:

  • “GPSID” means that the programm is configured to work with the GPS receiver via GPS Intermediate Driver (GPSID). This way of working is possible only if the OS version of your mobile device is => 5.0 and GPSID is configured to work with the embedded or standalone receiver. Please note: this scenario is default.
  • “COMX” means that the program is configured to work with a GPS receiver directly through the COM-port, where X is the number of COM-port which is configured.
  • Selecting “Menu -> Settings -> Change GPS Receiver” an attempt to connect to GPSID is happening. If the data from GPS is obtained the user start using GPSID for the work with a GPS receiver. Otherwise the search of the GPS data source via COM-port is carried out. In that case you have to select appropriate source in the list of discovered sources.

You can also find a useful post under the title “Blackjack II GPS… ACTIVATED“.

As usual we are waiting for your feedback!

    Sincerely yours,
    GPSed Team

Enjoy the new look and new features of GPSed for PocketPC and Smartphone!

We are happy to announce a new GPSed update for Windows Mobile-based devices! You can easily compare its interface with the previous version and we hope you’ll find the recent one more attractive.

We’re sorry to keep the WM audience waiting for a bit more time than BlackBerry and J2ME users. But still, the new look&feel is here and we like it very much. And yes, it’s the most important part of this update.

Another nice feature we have here is “track autopause“. Now the track pauses automatically if you decide to stop for a while. Every time you take a break, you don’t need to stop the track by yourself. Moreover, your WM-based device can be now prevented to enter the sleep mode, if you want to keep it on all the time. All this features customizable via application Settings.

This update also includes several dozens bug fixes which we believe will make your GPSed experience trouble-free and more enjoyable. We highly recommend you to download the latest version. And keep us informed on your experience!

    Yours,
    GPSed Team

Your tracks are in unsupported format and are not visible on GPSed?

It is possible to solve this simple problem. Your tracks should be converted into *.gpx format. This is the most popular format for GPS tracks. We recommend you on-line GPS track format converter on GPSVisualizer website.

Upload appropriated file from your computer and press “Convert”. After that copy a code and paste it in the created text file, and save it in *.gpx format. This file could be easily uploaded on GPSed.com.

To upload your track on GPSed.com sign in your account. In the upper right corner of your screen press the link “Upload tracks” and find your recent track on your computer (GPX, KML or PLT formats). You can upload several files at the same time. When the process is finished your tracks will appear on Google Maps.

Please leave your comments here and let us know if you find useful to have additional formats supported on support@gpsed.com.

According to the voting that we have launched about two weeks ago the most wanted track became Magellan’s voyage around the world

This is the mapped story about Ferdinand Magellan - the first maritime explorer who made circumnavigation in 1519-1522. Ferdinand was killed during the Battle of Mactan in the Philippines on the morning of April 17, 1521. But his expedition with ship Victoria at the head finished round-the-world voyage in 1522.
